Founded by health care professionals, Cuidar Community is a charitable organization that connects those navigating elderly life transitions such as from independent to assisted living, to the resources they need and provides accessible information about this transition to raise awareness and inspire proactive living.

Cuidar Community started in 2019 in The Bronx, New York City in response to the pandemic and the lack of accessibility to long term care and assisted living that the pandemic created. This disparity in care was even more prominent in communities that were predominantly Spanish speaking, such as The Bronx and Queens. Cuidar, the Spanish verb meaning to care, was chosen then as our namesake to support the Spanish-speaking members who make up such a beautiful part of our community. Cuidar Community initially focused on making information and aging related healthcare more accessible to our Spanish speaking communities and has since grown to provide accessibility to pivotal elder life transition resources to all, and has started outreach programs in Texas and Michigan with the vision to be established in every state. Although Cuidar Community has expanded in scope, we kept our namesake to honor the beautiful communities that inspired us to care more in the first place.

What We Do

According to the National Center for Assisted Living, nearly 70% of us will go from living independently to needing daily medical assistance, often unexpectedly.

Cuidar Community further supports those undergoing this transition that may not have the financial means to access the care they need by providing financial assistance and donating equipment to promote healthy living and establish necessary medical care. Our partners further our cause by offering their services discounted to free of charge for those who connect with them through Cuidar Community.
